AN Indian community organisation in Sutton conducted Ganeshotsav celebration in the city during the weekend, a statement said.

Sutton Mitra Mandal organised the event under a specially erected 3,400 sqft marquee at Beddington Park in Beddington on Saturday (23) and Sunday (24).

The celebration encompassed various Indian traditions, including the welcome lezim dance from Maharashtra, yagnahoma in the South Indian style, arti blending Marathi and North Indian customs, and devotional bhajans that celebrated the linguistic diversity of Indians.

According to the statement, approximately 5,000 devotees participated in the event, which was a joyous celebration of the Ganpati pooja traditions, and 3,500 devotees partook in the maha prasad (food).

The statement further added that over 220 volunteers, spanning from teenagers to senior citizens, worked tirelessly over three months to ensure the event’s major success.
