This week’s episode of The Great British Bake Off saw two contestants leave the popular baking competition on week five, where contestants were challenged to put their pastry skills to the test.
Nicky Laceby and Rowan Claughton faced a difficult week during pastry week, so judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith decided to send them packing.
Nicky faced issues with her pastry being too thick, and Paul and Prue gave mixed feedback about her bakes.
Rowan also struggled to get the flavours right in his bakes.
Nicky, 52, told Paul that she had had a ‘blast’ on the show.
Rowan, 21, said, ‘Saying goodbye is the worst part about this. Not the absolute roast I got at the showstopper.’
Fans were left disappointed as it was confirmed the two bakers wouldn’t be returning for next week’s episode.
Some of them took to social media to express their disappointment, with one sadly tweeting: “Gotta say, seeing poor Rebs just go to pieces then did heart punch me a bit #GBBO.”
“Ah will miss the lovely Rowan and Nicky, such lovely people #GBBO,” wrote another.
“Oh, Nicky & Rowan this is such a sad goodbye. You were both such fun and cheerful spirits on the show. This series won’t feel the same without you both ,” someone else wrote.
For those not in the know, last week saw none of the contestants eliminated.
The Great British Bake Off returns next Tuesday at 8 pm on Channel 4.
