Connecticut group wants to ‘educate’ Americans about cricket, make the game popular

The first cricket game played in the USA dates back to 1845, but unlike some former British colonies, the game did not gain much popularity in the country due to limited exposure and the prevailing sports culture. In an effort to change that, the Hartford-based non-profit organization, Cricket Hall of Fame (CHoF), has acquired the American Cricket Education Council (ACEC), a team dedicated to cricket education in the count

Commenting on the acquisition, the Executive Director of CHoF, Michael Chambers, stated, “With this acquisition, our members and supporters will offer their time and expertise as key investments to promote and support cricket in the western hemisphere (Americas).”
CHoF plans to empower educators and faculty members at colleges and universities by providing enhanced resources and professional development opportunities to strengthen the future of cricket coaches and institutional instructors. According to Jatin Patel, a CHoF Board Director, “The rapid changes in the sport of cricket demand that instructors frequently update and enhance their training skills to keep pace with their expanding role and increased responsibility regarding legal requirements in the USA and to meet sports culture.” Patel expressed hope that the new CHoF initiative could address the lack of adequate and organic education programs with qualified and knowledgeable people to sustain the growth and development of cricket in the USA.
