Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, has recently highlighted his concerns over Hindu rights globally, pledging to strengthen protections for Hindu Americans if elected.

Trump voiced his commitment through a message on the social media platform X, where he condemned the ongoing violence faced by Hindus, Christians, and other minorities in Bangladesh, describing the situation as chaotic.

Trump also criticized President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, stating they have ignored the plight of Hindus both globally and within the United States.

Trump’s statements mark a shift in the discourse around Hindu rights within the U.S. political arena. He has vowed to address these issues, saying, “I strongly condemn the barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities who are getting attacked and looted by mobs in Bangladesh.”

He further added, “It would have never happened on my watch. Kamala and Joe have ignored Hindus across the world and in America… we will Make America Strong Again and bring back Peace through Strength!”

Trump also discussed his longstanding relationship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he referred to as a “good friend.” Trump pledged to continue fostering U.S.-India relations, viewing Modi as an influential figure with whom he hopes to work closely. “Under my administration, we will also strengthen our great partnership with India,” he asserted.

The former president’s statements have resonated with many within the Hindu American community, particularly as they prepare for the U.S. election next week. His comments have rekindled interest in the priorities of the Biden-Harris administration regarding Hindu issues.

Amidst these remarks, Trump’s criticism of Kamala Harris extended beyond Hindu issues. Trump alleged that her policy stance could negatively affect small businesses through increased regulation and taxation.

“Kamala Harris will destroy your small businesses with more regulations and higher taxes. By contrast, I cut taxes, cut regulations, unleashed American energy, and built the greatest economy in history. We will do it again, bigger and better than ever before—and we will Make America Great Again,” Trump stated.

Taking the opportunity to connect with the Hindu community in the festive season, Trump extended Diwali greetings to Hindus globally. He expressed his hopes that the Festival of Lights would “lead to the Victory of Good over Evil.” His Diwali message, coupled with his stance on Hindu rights, has garnered appreciation from Hindu Americans, with some voicing support on social media.

This latest message from Trump aligns with his broader approach toward international diplomacy. Highlighting issues at Israel’s southern border, he also drew attention to various global conflicts, including those impacting Hindu and Jewish communities.

With his past focus on improving diplomatic ties and economic cooperation, Trump’s remarks about supporting Hindu Americans are perceived as part of his broader agenda of religious rights advocacy if he returns to office.

Trump’s rhetoric suggests a commitment to counteracting what he perceives as anti-religious policies that have marginalized minority groups. He believes that the Democratic party’s policies have strained relationships across international lines, mentioning conflicts from Israel to Ukraine. These statements have strengthened his support among groups who feel their religious freedoms have been overlooked in recent years.

As the U.S. election approaches, Trump’s remarks indicate a keen awareness of the Hindu American demographic’s role in U.S. politics. By addressing both domestic and international concerns about Hindu rights, he has amplified his campaign’s focus on inclusivity and support for minority communities, a strategy likely to resonate among Hindu American voters.

He remarked: “Kamala Harris will destroy your small businesses with more regulations and higher taxes. By contrast, I cut taxes, cut regulations, unleashed American energy, and built the greatest economy in history. We will do it again, bigger and better than ever before—and we will Make America Great Again.”

Conveying well-wishe to Hindu Americans, he also extended Diwali greetings, saying, “Also, Happy Diwali to All. I hope the Festival of Lights leads to the Victory of Good over Evil.” His message underscores his outreach efforts, aiming to reinforce ties with Hindu Americans while signaling his stance on global peace and economic resilience.
