Popular Canadian TikTok star Megha Thakur died ‘suddenly and unexpectedly’ in the early hours on November 24, her family has confirmed online.

The 21-year-old, who gained 93,000 followers after promoting body confidence on the platform, passed away just days after posting a TikTok video of herself walking in New York City, which featured a cryptic message that said ‘YOU’RE in charge of your destiny. Remember that’.

It was reportedly Thakur’s final post. The cause of the social media influencer’s death has not been revealed.

Thakur was from Brampton, Ontario.

Her parents, who shared the tragic news on Instagram, wrote, “It is with heavy hearts we announce the light of our life, our kind, caring, and beautiful daughter, Megha Thakur, suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on November 24, 2022 in the early morning hours.

“Megha was a confident and independent young woman. She will be dearly missed. She loved her fans and would have wanted you to know of her passing. At this time, we request your blessings for Megha. Your thoughts and prayers will be with her in her onward journey.”

They signed the post as ‘Megha’s loving parents’.

Friends and fans expressed shock in the comments over the youngster’s death.

“Please god no this can’t be happening,” wrote one.

Another said, “Sending my thoughts and prayers to your family. She was such a talented and kind young woman. May she Rest In Peace.”
